
With the prompt of "How are you
showing patriotism and support for our country?” our local high school
participants shared their inspiring essays during the Sunday breakfast on March
5th. Tenth grader Jane W. spoke about how patriotic art can bring together and
enrich our local communities. James R. another 10th grader, spoke
about showing patriotism by keeping American traditions and history alive by visiting
national monuments and Civil War battlefields. High school Senior, Christian B.
spoke about the freedom to question bequeathed by our founding father’s and how
this freedom has shaped us into a great nation.
"Hawthorne Post 2075 and District 4 is
very proud of these young students for their patriotism, poise, and dedication
to their community,” said Post Commander and District 4 Commander Tim Ibarra.
Each participant received a
certificate of merit declaring them as an outstanding spokesperson for freedom.
In addition, the Voice of Democracy winner from District 4, Christian B. won a
monetary prize and will go on to represent the Department at the state level
competition!
