In Memoriam: Elbert A. Collins Jr., Beloved Post Chaplain

- 8/16/2025

The awards and designated recently bestowed on Post 2075 would not have been possible without the tireless and selfless efforts of Post Chaplain Elbert A. Collins Jr. who passed away July 18, 2025.

Chaplain Collins was more than a spiritual guide, he was a devoted servant to all, consistently offering support, compassion, and a steady presence to those in need. He was known for visiting members who could no longer make it to the meetings to offer prayer, a warm blanket and let them know that post members were still thinking about them. Ever a champion of the post, some of his final acts during the year were winning the Chaplain of the Year Award, boosting membership to 102% percent through his diligent recruitment and retention efforts. For his work he earned a recruiter award that included 1, 5 and 10 member pins.

"His unwavering dedication to his faith and Post 2075 is something that inspires all of us and we will continue to honor his legacy in everything we do,” said current Post Commander Tim Ibarra. "His concern and empathy for the well-being of our comrades and community will never be forgotten.”

Please keep Chaplain Collins and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. A celebration of life will take place at the post on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 14:00 hrs. To RSVP, please click on this link: https://www.evite.com/event/00A1YGWKBYGHS42OGEPQN44TTYXZ6Q/
